The quality of spare parts and the economic activity of the plant’s management may have been the reason for its bankruptcy; the plant’s capacities were divided and sold. The motorcycle products of our own design, including the Pilot and Kurier mopeds and the Sova motorcycle, received Chinese 4-stroke engines as a result of cooperation with the Chinese concern Lifan. In addition, ZiD mastered screwdriver assembly of other Lifan motorcycle products – scooters, Barkhan ATVs and small-capacity motorcycles. The most interesting in this range is the ZiD-LIFAN LF400 – a copy of the Yamaha XV-400 Virago produced in the first half of the 1990s. In the enduro class, there are several types of motorcycles that differ significantly from each other in design. Модельный ряд, помимо классических моделей, включает в себя популярные модели китайского мотопрома — малокубатурные эндуро, стритфайтеры, мотарды под маркой Megelli. Также белорусы сотрудничали с итальянцами по части сборки своего мотоцикла из импортных комплектующих (амортизаторы Marzocchi и т. д.), но конечная цена таких изделий была столь высока, что не вызывала серьёзного спроса. In essence, this is a sportbike without plastic, many custom streetfighters are made this way – the sportbike is “stripped” and the minimum trim necessary for city riding remains on it. Serial streetfighters are created on the basis of engines and other parts of sport motorcycles, while the engines are derated by %, and other design elements are simplified to reduce their cost, but without a serious decrease in driving performance. Such motorcycles are Honda CB-600F and CB-900F Hornet, Yamaha FZ-6 and FZ-1, Suzuki GSR-600 and SV-1000S, Kawasaki Z-1000, etc. Today, the Kovrov Degtyarev Plant produces mainly defense products, as well as motorcycle products, consumer goods, packaging machines and industrial sewing machines.

Mass electric cycles of especially small classes are widely produced in China. At the same time, Asian and Latin American conveyors still have models with internal combustion engines, tracing their lineage back to the early 60s and suffering from unstable manufacturing quality. Screwdriver assembly of the same machines from Asian components at individual small enterprises is becoming almost the only manifestation of the motorcycle industry in Russia. For riding on the track (participation in motorcycle races), many world manufacturers develop special protective clothing. First of all, these are special helmets designed to provide maximum protection for the pilot’s head from hitting the asphalt or a fence.

Hard enduros are also produced in 400, 450, 600 and 650 cm³, with larger engines sometimes being air-cooled. This is a class of motorcycles designed for riding on bad roads, or even off-road. Depending on the specialization, there are several types that have common characteristics.
